Anon - Well la...MM - The World According to Carp.

Anon - Well last Monday I said Strasburg is going to be awesome and Tuesday I said there is no reason to worry about Danny Espinosa. And I have mentioned over the past few days that even though it seems likely that the Nats will suffer a major pitching injury, one wouldn't be a big deal for the Nats. That was just last week. If that's not enough positive I don't know what to tell you... Read Boz, I guess?

blovy8 - Young will help. I've liked him. Edwin won 10 games with a 4.03 ERA. Young (4.15) would be a fine 5th if need be. And you're right about the resources, I'm not sure they'd bother filling that role though, if the injury comes late enough in the year. They are good enough to overcome it so why trade pieces you may like for a guy who might not even start in the playoffs (assuming that's the type of deal they make) I see them just stocking up on the cheap alternatives. Rizzo signed a guy like Young as insurance for the next month, since Vazquez is already hurt as the Plan A for that. Hell, they'd probably pay that guy to rehab in April similar to the way they had Wang around forever. Granted, you don't want Perry, Roark, or Maya as your fifth starter for longer than a couple of starts (I'm assuming the Garcia experiment is already off), but we all know that isn't going to happen. It's more likely Duke or Stammen would get the job, and another reliever(s) would come up since the depth there is significantly better and easier to replace. There are also guys like Braden rehabbing and waiting for a deal when they get healthy. The Nats will be at the top of the list for those type of pitchers since they are contending, and now have established a reputation for treating injured pitchers like human beings and not machines.

The White Sox seem to have figured something out, but it'll be interesting to see what happens to Sale, since he made such a big jump in innings.blovy8https://www.blogger.com/profile/06888192019412533415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9207681.post-30029062501674007632013-02-24T14:06:58.624-08:002013-02-24T14:06:58.624-08:00Every team has these concerns, the Nats are the mo...Every team has these concerns, the Nats are the most balanced team in the league so if they lose some players to injuries (like Granderson today), they will still be on top. Man Harper, do you ever talk about anything positive? Dont cover a team if you're not a true Nats fan. Frankly, it won't be a surprise if they do it, but rather if they don't.bdrubenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9207681.post-13023937235500374302013-02-22T10:18:30.061-08:002013-02-22T10:18:30.061-08:00It's become commonplace and very successful bu...It's become commonplace and very successful but it's still major surgery. It's an injury, but afterward it no longer is. This isn't the case with back, hip, shoulder or leg injuries. But this specific elbow surgery is designed to leave the elbow in better shape than before the injury.Sircnoreply@blogger.com
