Dominoes

I've always thought that the Rangers losing out on Hamilton means they'd give LaRoche his 3 year deal (I've also thought the KS plains boy would prefer to be in Texas).  Let's see if I'm right.

That was immediately my thought, too. Well, at least we get to keep michael Morse.

+1/2St.

I'm just ready for this to get finished. Rizzo is smart for not going beyond 2 years. I think Morse will be fine at first. Not great, but good enough. Do you think we still may look at packaging Morse for prospects and just letting Moore try and blossom into an everyday player.

Same thought. I'd prefer LaRoche at first, but not at three years. Well, I like singing along to "Take On Me" ...

1/2>0 st ... for one more year

MT - It's all about not being forced into something you don't want if you don't need it. The Nats don't NEED LaRoche next year. He'd probably make the team better but how much better? A game? Two? This is a mid 90s winning team that already made some marginal improvements. Morse will be acceptable for a year.

The problem with Moore is if he's not an elite 35+ HR slugger he doesn't have much value. He's not a great fielder, hitter, patient, etc. etc. I'm pretty sure the Nats feel the same way. So it's a gamble on leaving a hole in a lineup that's pretty solid right now.

MM - I would have signed him but have no qualms about not doing it. 2 years - of course. 4 years - no way. 3 years - there are good arguments either way so neither decision is the wrong one.

If LaRoche leaves, I think Morse is the most likely starter at 1B next year. I don't see Moore as an every day player but I could be wrong.

But what happens after 2013 when Morse leaves too? Skole? Zimmerman? Moore?

If we had a strong 1b in the pipeline, I'd be more reluctant to give LaRoche 3 years, but there just doesn't seem to be a great replacement, even 3 years out, is there?

who knows? Myabe one of those guys. Maybe none. FA wise : 1 yr deal to Konerko? Cheap 2-yr deal for Morales or Morneau? I think Rizzo doesn't let that fear worry him. Worry about the 2014 offseason in August.

The team is good enough to afford him that luxury.

Might be, but I am not sure TEX values ALR that highly. I'd see them signing Bourn first, if he is realistic. Or making a trade for a better bat. I see SEA or BAL as bigger threats.

Ideally, ALR resigns with us and we keep Morse as a bench bat/ injury hedge at OF/1B. Span, Werth and ALR don't exactly have 162 game recent pedigrees, and Morse's salary isn't a payroll buster. It is, after all, a 'go-for-it' year, plus, I don't think he brings back much in a trade.

assuming ALR walks and Morse is here for another year, and *If* Rendon can stay healthy for a year, I'd imagine he's the third baseman and Zim moves to first in 2014. It puts a potentially great bat in the lineup to replace a departing Morse and removes a defensive liability from third (I love Zim but I don't think he'll ever get the routine play down). Just a thought though, and I'd rather have ALR.

End the distraction. Offer Adam 3 years but make the 3rd year reliability/performance dependent on playing 150+ games and keeping similar numbers (.275 / 30 / etc)? If he doesn't bite, thank him for his contribution and start Morse. I love LaRoche, but he really isn't worth this much drama.

Besides, it is in his best interests to sign a deal in 2012 and get 'up front' money and avoid the tax hit he IS going to take when 0bama's fiscal cliff crushes the top 2%.

@Donald "But what happens after 2013 when Morse leaves too? Skole? Zimmerman? Moore?"

You're assuming it's a guarantee that Morse is gone. It's way too early to just assume that. Too many variables are present.

What if he's healthy all year and hits 40 HR? Not saying that will definitely happen, but it is possible. They'd be crazy not to bring him back if he does something like that. Way too early to think about 2014 when 2013 hasn't happened yet.

I could see LaRoche waiting longer than Christmas. The Rangers still have trade options. I think Rizzo had made LaRoche his only offer, so any club could really beat it at this point. Morse, Moore, Marerro, Skole, etc. That seems plenty deep to me. Hell, if Rendon is a guy who can't stay on the field otherwise, HE should be the one playing 1st. Zimmerman with a healthy throwing arm is better than he is, why would you move him?

Elegant packaging is a lovely notion for catering food products or for other businesses. When packaging healthful foods, pictures of fresh fruit, vegetables, and grains work very well. Additionally, it is good to include lengthy text on such packaging stressing the product's health benefits. Aluminum Foil Manufacturer
