Like the Nats in general
They are now nearly what I feared they'd be last post. Worst of the rest. Only the Athletics are standing in their way. They are clearly behind the Marlins now. Hell so are the Braves.
Things have gotten so bad the team is trying to get you excited for the idea of Paul DeJong coming back and DHing even though he can't hit.
What the hell are we doing here people?
Kick anyone over 27 to the curb. Just play kids. See where you end up. Spend a bunch of money in the off-season. That's where we are.

Please can we send Trevor Williams on his way. I am so sick of seeing his 87mph fastball. Seriously, does that still work for anyone at the MLB level? Good grief
Seriously, if Williams isn't DFAd when Cavalli gets called up, I'm gonna lose it
Nothing with the roster management this season has made any sense for a team who claims they're looking to contend next year. House is probably about to get sent down with DeJong back, Williams is still on the roster, Davey is going to make the good relievers' arms fall off with overuse. This team needs to be playing the kids only and figuring out who's in the long term plans
Halfway through the season and it's already a write-off. Awful
Come on it takes 5 minutes to make a post like this on vacation!
What’s there to say? 2/3 of the team isn’t the least bit interesting. What they lack in talent they are worse at in approach. I’m sick of watching players that were never good enough to help a contending team try to recapture their old (still terrible) form.
Maybe you can use the rest of your vacation to expand your list of people the Nats should fire. Last week you wanted to fire Rizzo. Just who do you want to make the crucial decision on Anderson vs Holliday, one of the Lerners? Get a grip on youself. It is only baseball.
Why did they call up Andres Chaparro and give him 12 PAs in 4 games over three weeks? I’m not saying he’s a star in the making but what was the point? Was he supposed to platoon with Bell and/or Lowe but the Nats faced a bunch of RHP? Was he going to play 3B and then they decided to call up House? If so why did they demote Tena? If the point was to have a big PH bat, why did they use Call and Adams and Ruiz to pinch hit instead? Is Chaparro just 26-year-old AAAA org filler or is there more to him? Guess we better send him back to Rochester to continue mashing so we have no further clarity.
Andres Chaparro is not going to make or break the Nats season, but his completely incoherent usage is emblematic of the organization’s lack of vision and direction.
I agree on roster management. Chaparro might by AAAA but his usage isn’t helping is value (trade) or the team. And why did Andry Lara get the call today for his debut? It wasn’t because he earned. Decent last year in Harrisburg. Awful at all levels this year. My only guess is they Rizzo is maybe looking to be a buyer at the deadline. Probably thinks quantity will buy two years of control of a good player. Maybe Preller in SD will pick up the phone to get hosed (again)? One can hope.
I'm all-in on the "let the kids play" trajectory...it's another lost season, let them have some fun, build some clubhouse camaraderie and see who's who with consistent playing time...
From a purely amateur perspective, this kind of trajectory would possibly give management, coaches and fans a good sense of what is actually necessary for the next off-season dive into the dumpster. Not all minor leaguers who falter - like Lara - turn out to be non-serviceable in the majors. I remember years ago some kid named Harper didn't tear up the minors but did once he was brought up. Judges did the same thing, and Jacob de Grom. Now, don't get me wrong, I have serious doubts about the current administration of the Nats, but what else can you do at this point?
Yea, nats blog productivity is mirroring the team's :(
