Hey think of it this way the money we saved by letting finnegan go and bringing him back paid for Shinny!

Dropping 3/4 to the Pirates is...something. Heaney and Falter are NOT good pitchers, to score a grand total of 0 runs against those two is rather pathetic

To be fair the pirates fans would’ve said the same if they didn’t win the series against us (plus at home). Fact of the matter is we’re both bottom teams.

Sadly, I can now say that I agree with the Nationals' front office strategy of not bringing in high-priced free agents. Juan Soto wouldn't make this a .500 team. Not even Shohei could make the Nationals a .500 team. The Nationals can't hit and they have a terrible bullpen. And I don't see that this will change for the remainder of the season, although it would be nice if Dylan Crews started playing like the "can't miss" prospect that he was supposed to be.

In more positive news:

“Jarlin Susana, RHP, Harrisburg (WSH No. 2/MLB No. 75)
Despite punching out 157 batters in 103 2/3 innings across two Minor League levels in 2024, Susana did not tally a double-digit K performance until last Aug. 31. The 6-foot-6, 235-pounder needed only three starts to do so this year, equaling a career high with 10 strikeouts in 4 2/3 frames for Double-A Harrisburg. Susana scattered four hits and allowed a pair of runs during his 87-pitch outing. The 21-year-old has a 2.63 ERA and has fanned 23 in 13 2/3 innings spanning three starts”

I thought that Susana would likely end up as a reliever, but maybe he’s a bona fide starting pitcher possibility?

He's looking good. It's The question is whether he can make it up and succeed before Gore gets up for contract.

But he's almost the only one!

After a hot start, House has cooled to a league average line. Which is fine for his age at AAA, and an encouraging improvement over last year, but not production that's going to turn any heads or force promotion.

After him, Lile is hitting arlight. And I guess Kent and Grissom have been good, but with them (and with Loma and Morales), it's too few PAs / IPs for stats mean anything at all.

Running down the list into the 20s, Millas is hitting well, but he's 27. I still rank him as a prospect, but I feel silly about it.

It's really been a rough start for the whole system. (Though I think a lot of the disaster in Rochester can be traced back to all the injuries.)

When are we done with the Sims + Poche experiment? Are we waiting for them to turn it around like Chad Kuhl did last year? There’s a large number of high school pitchers who would have an ERA near 20 (no offense to high school pitchers, of course).
