Livan might be opening day starter, also Woozle Wuzzle

Is this what passes for Nats' news nowawadays?

Hmm and what does Rizzo know about available starting pitching that no one else knows? If he really has a chance it must be a deal and it must be for a team that is giving up on 2011 already. But what team is that? And what pitcher? Wandy Rodriguez? Fausto Carmona? What will that take... I believe Rizzo is still trying to get to Point B, hasn't point B become Shangi-La by now?

Livo certainly had a good year, but he is infuriating to watch, at least for me. I remember one year in my STH group I drew him 4 times. I am about all full up.

Anyhow, if it is a deal, it is either a give up, a money dump or a trade from surplus to fill another need. I frankly don't see any of it, but who knows. Reds seems like they have a surplus, although not of the #1 variety, certainly.

Also, maybe Dodgers. Rizzo loves Billingsley, and he is like a dog with a bone on some players. Seems like they need a LF, but we already traded him to the west coast.

Infuriating to watch? Apprently you dont like baseball...I love watching Livo. Getting major league hitters to swing and miss at a 58 mph curve. Its awesome.

With that said...I do realize he is not opening day caliber. Forget that he barely is a #4/5 guy...but he is fun to watch.

Natty - just a difference in preference, I guess, like Rocky Road v. Very Berry Vanilla. It isn't that I don't appreciate the skill behind getting batters out with all of that junk, it is just that I don't enjoy watching it happen. Kind of similar to how I like and appreciate that the garbage man comes to take away my garbage, but I don't get a kick out of watching him do it.

Especially in person, I like to watch the hard throwers. The pop of the glove, the excitement around swing and misses in tense moments, all that stuff. I would rather read about Livo the next day. And I am betting the Under that his 2011 season doesn't equal 2010.

Not actually surprising, given the current roster of Nats pitchers. At the very least, he won't have any issues with pressure...

The funny thing is, any two of Lannan, Marquis (except for April '10) and Hernandez are actually above-average #4/5 starters. Unfortunately, we lack anyone above them unless Wang makes a full recovery and Znn pitches to full potential. At least the bullpen looks to be adequate (on paper), so if the starters do pitch well we ought to hold most leads...
