Monday Quickie - Alive

While you were sleeping the Nats got in good with your family and maybe began a relationship with your brother and they also won 2 of 3 in San Francisco. They bashed out 45 hits including 10 doubles which would be 23% of all their hits and 24% of all their doubles this season. Robles had the best series going 8-12 with 2 walks and raising his OPS from .443 (which is hideous) to .662 (which is perfectly ok for a defense first CF). Alcides Escobar went 5-8 to bring his 2022 status to "he's so bad" from "actively crying looking at his stats".  Lucius Fox got his first hit ever (great now send him down). And Yadiel Hernandez continued to hit going 5-8 with 3 doubles. It wasn't all good news though as Nelson Cruz went 1-13 and finds himself at the Escobar line. That line is not good for a aged SS who is no longer a top notch fielder. It's alarming for a DH.

Pitching wise the Gray Ace WWI fighter pilot hero and Nationals #1 starter looked very good. SF is a perfect place for him as his issues are primarily homers and the park dulls those, even more than they are being dulled by whatever shenanigans are being pulled by MLB this time. With no balls going out of the park his FBs found gloves and his walks stayed on the basepaths. Aaron Sanchez pitched like he belonged in the rotation which is good because the Nats REALLY needed that. Rainey keeps looking good and Davey might have finally used up Arano.

Day off today and then the Rockies. The Rockies have been an early surprise (13-9) but I don't buy it. It's a mix of luck (5-0 in 1 run games), over performance from a middling rotation (which got crushed by Philly), and some scheduling luck (after a good start with a series win vs LA have played TEX, DET, CIN, - three bottom dwelling teams, CHC - not good, and PHI - who they went 2-5 against). They might be a .500 team so the Nats could take this short series. Plus it's Soto in Colorado and he's gotta heat up sometime.

The Arano thing is so baffling. You're up 8-0 after 6 and you put in your most used reliever. That is the perfect time for the Paolo Espino Esperience! Get homeboy a 3-inning save! I realize this is nitpicking after a surprising road series win against one of the best teams in MLB, but it's just so inexcusably bad.

Two things are true today:

Old Marley was dead as a doornail; and

Victor Robles has nearly twice as many RBI (9) as Juan Soto (5).

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Alcides Escobar's OPS+
Is now greater than 2

Dead ball goes both ways right? It's helping Gray keep it in the park, but it's also keeping power numbers down too? Cruz isn't hitting the ball in the air enough but I have to figure Bell, Soto and Yadi would all have at least a couple more HRs each if the ball were spicier.

Mr. Fox is no Trea Turner. But give the man some slack. On a wretched team, he brings badly needed youthful enthusiasm, speed and (albeit not flawless) exciting glove work. Gotta root for the guy. Who knows? Danny Espinosa with flair, without power. The Bahamas!

If the Nats are not gonna bring up Garcia, I'm totally fine having Fox around and getting some reps. The Giants really liked him when they signed him, and he seems to have some raw athletic ability. It's just a question of whether he can put the pieces together. If he can, excellent stopgap until House is ready or potentially solid trade piece for someone looking for a utility guy

As for the real trade pieces, looks like the Hernandi, Bell, and Franco could get some lotto tickets, but I'm not really optimistic about anything good in return. This offseason's FA signings are looking to be a bit of a clunker, which could result in another year of mediocrity (or worse) during this rebuild. ugh

Yeah, it's starting to look sadly like Cruz finally hit the wall around the time he was traded last season, and if he doesn't get it together it's going to not only cost money (not really a big deal) but also the trade value he could have brought.

Continuing the theme of "complaining," I do not understand how Davey thinks sometimes when it comes to pitcher management. He treats his relievers like Dusty Baker treated Cub starters, he insists on leaving pitchers in until bad things start to happen and then sticking the next guy into a situation with runners already on base. Obviously every fanbase thinks their manager is the worst in the world at using the 'pen, but as someone who follows multiple teams, Davey is kind of godawful. (Mind you, Rizzo's inability to put together a functional 'pen at the start of most seasons does make it hard to evaluate Nationals managers on their bullpen management.)

Good day everybody. I’m here to share a testimony of how Dr. Kumar helped me to win the lottery. Words are not enough to thank him for the great thing he has done for me, he has really changed my life for good. I have been playing the lottery for years now and I have never won a big money before, i got so tired of it until I decided to look for ways to improve my chances of winning and I saw a testimony online of how Dr. Kumar has helped a lot of people to win the lottery by casting spells.. I quickly contacted him on the email that was present on one of the comments and explained my problem to him in which he cast a spell on my winning numbers and gave them to me to play and behold I won the sum of (72,000,000 USD). I’m a happy man now and i am totally grateful to Dr Kumar for what he did for me.If you need his help to win the lottery, you can contact him on email: spellcasttemple@gmail.com or WhatsApp +13305363918
