There's a question of when to use Stras - I'd still use him for his own game. a 3-0 lead in the 4th is a solid start that you can expect a team with a decent pen (which the Nats have) to hold on to. You can also expect a team with a crap pen (which the Reds have) to have trouble holding the Nats to 3. No, save Stras for Sonny Gray and the possibility of needing an outduel.
Ross looked good for four which is great but also adds confusion back to the Ross or Fedde question. I don't know. Either answer is fine as in it could work or it could blow up in your face.

Still don't get why the first game goes nine but the second goes 7. The double header rules (or whatever you call this) make no sense.
Glad to see the Nats tack on a few extra runs to ensure they could win. That 8th inning was rough to watch. Now let's hope they can give Stras some run support
The idea for the new 7 7 rule is to limit the innings played in a single day. My guess is since they needed to play 5 1/2 innings - that plus 9 is 14 1/2 which crosses their threshold forcing the second game to be 7 innings.
The 7 inning rule makes sense in the context of limiting exposure during the pandemic. Even if we are seemingly coming out of the pandemic, we are still in it at the moment.
Point being, I doubt that the 7 inning rule is a permanent one. Although the 2 hour games do remind me of my younger days, watching Mel Proctor and John Lowenstein on HTS and having the games over at 9:30 on a week night.
