Nationals Baseball: Game 2!

Game 2!

Yesterday an on his game Anibal converged with an off their game Cardinals and the result was almost history.  Still Nats fans will take the win.  Can Max win today and put the Cardinals really behind the 8-ball? Or do the Cards pull one out and set-up being one Flaherty start from being back in control? Is Max the last Max we saw or the one from the few games before that?  Can the Nats get some big hits, rather than none or just enough?  Will the Cards make Suzuki look foolish?

Very glad Robles is back. That’s a huge difference especially for their offense. I would personally not have brought Suzuki back given Cards base stealing.

Damn. Lineup I saw was wrong and Taylor is still playing. Not good

Yeah, nervous about 'Zuki vs. the Cards' running game. Then again, Cards got three free bases off of Sanchez and Gomes, and while they got to third a few times in the game, they never scored. We'll see how Scherzer handles him; I'm also a bit nervous about him given how much he pushed himself last start.

The game will be warmer today, but I think its good to hold Robles back. Give that hammy a little extra time to heal.

Also, I'm concerned that Soto is upping the antics too much in the box. I don't have an issue with the 'Soto shuffle', but it feels like he's pushing it a bit with the deliberate glares and the 'adjustments' after every take.

Rendon 1-16 in his career against Wainwright. Will be interesting to watch that today. C'mon Nats!

Victor who? Matty October strikes again!

Eaton needs to move down in the order, hitting like. 100 in the playoffs.

Thank goodness Eaton didn’t bunt!

On the other hand, the strike zone has been generous today. Too many called strikes.

Why did Shildt leave Wainright into face Eaton?? You have Andrew Miller in the 'pen!!

Breathe again! Breathe again!

Sorry lads, I take full responsibility for the MAT jinx. He provided a run, then gave it back. Tough play, but he positioned himself incorrectly. A rare positioning error by him. At least he had the solo blast.

MAT gets one, gives another away. Its good he gets some time in the spotlight. He needs a change. The better he plays now, the more Rizzo can get trading him in the off-season

I guess the theory is that the Cards can't steal on Suzuki if they never get anyone on base. ^_^ Hopefully Corbin pitching today (albeit...two pitches) won't affect his availability to start Game 4.

The Nats have to play .500 ball from here on out to win the World Series.

How’d you like that Michael A Tator dinger?

The guy with all the RBI’s the last 2 games?

MAT now has 3 postseason HRs. He hit one yesterday, matching his HR total for the entire regular season.

Yankees win! If the Nats and Yankees manage to win their series, we will get (cue music here): "The EXISTENTIAL CRISIS OF THE SOULLESS AUTOMATON!!!!!!"

"Yankees are good. I know them better than most. You have to be careful with their hitters."

(NO! NO! DON'T BE CAREFUL! SERVE UP MEATBALLS!!!! I HOPE GLEYBAR GOES 4-4 WITH 4 GRAND SLAMS!)

"Game plan: get to the starters early (if you can), because the 'pen is lights out."

(NO! NO! DON'T GET TO THE STARTERS EARLY! MAY THEY CARVE UP THE NATS LINEUP LIKE A THANKSGIVING TURKEY!!!!)
